I have been retired for 5 years and during that time I helped start up H2H Working Equitation Club with Mark Mason and Deb Taylor. As Club Secretary I helped the club go from zero to one of the largest WEQ clubs in Australia. During that time I attended many clinics including Claudia Matos and Nicola Danner, as well as attending many of the judges clinics held in NSW.
I have also competed in just about every WEQ competition in and around Sydney right from the beginning when we had comps at Gillian Kennerley’s to the State Championships at Mudgee last year. I have also judged several competitions and regularly teach EOH when required. My retirement has consisted of WEQ – living, eating and breathing it and occasionally spending time with my grandchildren!
Deb and I have recently moved up to Queensland – the Noosa Hinterland for family and lifestyle reasons and we hope to continue promoting our wonderful sport of WEQ in this region.
I have bred, trained & competed performance horses in-hand & under saddle my whole life, I fell in love with WE many years ago and decided to train my Morgan stallion WE for the many benefits it offers and to compliment our other disciplines we train.
My husband and I own and run our sheep farm & farm fencing business, we also breed Morgan horses, standing at public stud our 8 time national supreme champion stallion Watching Royalty.
I have been on the board of the MHAA as President going into my fourth year.
Our two beautiful daughters compete in Rodeo for the sport of professional barrel racing!
I live in the Clarence Valley on the North Coast of NSW, and was previously from the Southern Highlands, where my late husband, Phillip and I ran a breaking, training and coaching business for over 30 years. I have trained extensively with Miguel Tavora and Helene Ariarnoff (Belgium), and have also trained with Nuno Olivera, Hubert Eichinger (Spanish Riding School), Holzel, Phillipe Karl, Rodrigo Matos, Pedro Neaves and Eduardo Almedia and Nicola Danner.
Instrumental in forming WEGBI which was one of the groups to sign the MOU with Joalo Duarte, in April 15 to amalgamate WEQ in Australia. Formed Clarence Valley Working Equitation Club and also an Hon. Life member of IDA ( now Sydney Dressage Club). Also an executive member of Dapto (Chief Instructor) and Berry Pony Club, Secretary of SC Branch of ASHS, and Area Delegate to Dressage NSW, also previous President of Grafton Riding Club. Plus many years on the Equestrian Australia dressage judges list as a C level Advanced judge.
I believe judges are responsible for the standard of WEQ and judge education is vital. It is in this area that I have helped WEQ initially. I am extremely proud how WEQ has progressed in Australia and committed to improve our judges knowledge with the best trainers /judges we can secure.
I have been riding horses for over 40 years in various disciplines, before Working Equitation I was competing in dressage on a regular basis.
Finding Working Equitation put a new spring in my step and having retired from a demanding career it was time to give back to the sport.
Along with a very dedicated team we took on the challenge of bringing Working Equitation to the best it could be in Australia beginning with NSW after 4 years of planning, promoting and developing the sport for all the correct reasons being the growth of clubs, members and competitions.
The sport now has approx. 13 clubs in NSW and has spread its wings to VIC an QLD which I am very proud to say I have played a major role in developing
We are now in the process of developing a strong team of directors from around Australia to concrete the structure of a National Body.
I am proud and honoured to be part of this process.
